ABOUT THE RESIDENCY

 

The .abeceda [New Music Academy] programme invites composers to use AI and SI as compositional resources without delegating authorship. Artificial intelligence enables model-based processes; emerging intelligence models explore decentralised agents, local interaction, coordination, and emergent collective behaviour.

 

Each composer develops one work for one formation: solo, string quartet, chamber ensemble, symphony orchestra, or choir. Online exchange examines datasets, models, agents, rules, interfaces, authorship, bias, and technical requirements. Rehearsal tests how computational processes interact with performers, notation, timing, interpretation, and ensemble coordination, while composers retain responsibility for every artistic decision.

 

Through computation, composition, rehearsal, critical reflection, and public presentation, the programme develops methods that use intelligent systems without surrendering artistic agency. Each composer leaves with a premiered work, professional documentation, technological insight, and lasting collaborative relationships.
