Bled Contemporary Music Week

Bled Contemporary Music Week is an international festival that brings together emerging composers, performers, musicologists, researchers, and audiences of contemporary music. The festival celebrates new music as a living art form and focuses on the creation and performance of original works composed specifically for the event.

Combining residencies, workshops, performances, lectures, and discussions, the festival has become a vibrant meeting point for artists from around the world. It promotes active collaboration between performers and composers, encourages intercultural dialogue, and supports the next generation of music creators through education, professional development, and international exchange.

The ensemble in residence is .abeceda [New Music Ensemble]. The accompanying program includes lectures, pre-concert talks, symposia, and workshops for composers and performers, as well as concerts and workshops for children.

The 2026 edition will open with two concerts in Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana (Cukrarna Gallery, June 19–20), before continuing with a five-day festival in the picturesque town of Bled (Festival Hall and Bled Castle, June 22–26).

The entire festival program is professionally documented, archived, and live-streamed on YouTube, enhancing the visibility of new music and its creators while strengthening global networks between composers, performers, and researchers.
