ABOUT THE RESIDENCY

The .abeceda [New Music Academy] programme treats interdisciplinarity as consequential exchange among methods, materials, media, and perceptual frameworks. Another discipline is not decorative content; its operations must reshape form, notation, space, embodiment, production, performance, or listening.

Each selected composer develops one work for one formation: solo, string quartet, chamber ensemble, symphony orchestra, or choir. Projects may engage visual art, performance, choreography, architecture, literature, moving image, or digital media. Online exchange clarifies medium-specific demands; rehearsal tests how translated methods affect materials, performer agency, timing, coordination, feasibility, and perceptual coherence.

Through composition, translation, rehearsal, critical reflection, and public presentation, the programme develops interdisciplinary methods beyond decorative addition while preserving medium-specific precision. Each composer leaves with a premiered work, professional documentation, expanded artistic knowledge, and collaborative relationships.
