ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
The .abeceda [New Music Academy] programme approaches music theater as an integrated compositional field in which sound, action, language, space, objects, and technologies generate form together, culminating in premieres at the seventh Bled Contemporary Music Week.
Each selected composer develops one work for one formation: solo, string quartet, chamber ensemble, symphony orchestra, or choir. Projects may organise voice, gesture, movement, text, light, media, or objects within available means. Online exchange develops dramaturgical and production frameworks; rehearsals test performer agency, interpretation, space, timing, coordination, technical feasibility, and perceptual coherence.
Through composition, dramaturgy, rehearsal, critical reflection, and public presentation, the programme develops music-theater methods beyond decorative staging while preserving medium-specific precision. Each composer leaves with a premiered work, professional documentation, expanded artistic knowledge, and collaborative relationships.
