Develop an original composition from initial proposition to public premiere. Refine its materials, architecture, notation, and conditions of performance through sustained collaboration with professional performers, conductors, and producers.

ABOUT THE RESIDENCY

 

The .abeceda [New Music Academy] programme offers composers a sustained framework for developing a work through close exchange with professional performers, conductors, and producers, culminating in its public premiere at the seventh Bled Contemporary Music Week.

 

Each selected composer works with one formation: solo, string quartet, chamber ensemble, symphony orchestra, or choir. Online sessions establish the project’s artistic, notational, instrumental, and practical foundations. During intensive rehearsals, ideas can be tested in sound; materials, form, technique, and interpretation can be examined, refined, and realised in direct collaboration with performers.

 

Through composition, score analysis, rehearsal, critical reflection, and public presentation, the programme strengthens artistic method, practical knowledge, and professional experience. Each composer leaves with a premiered work, high-quality documentation, greater international visibility, and lasting collaborative relationships.
