PROGRAMME MODULES

NEW WORKS PROGRAMME

Develop an original composition from initial proposition to public premiere. Refine its materials, architecture, notation, and conditions of performance through sustained collaboration with professional performers, conductors, and producers.

PROTOTYPES, EXPERIMENTS, AND NEW IDEAS PROGRAMME

Transform a speculative proposition into a complete musical work. Test unfamiliar materials, systems, interfaces, and procedures through iterative rehearsal, critical evaluation, documentation, and consequential revision.

EXISTING WORKS AND CANONICAL MASTERPIECES PROGRAMME

Create an autonomous work through critical engagement with existing repertoire. Analyse, translate, contest, recompose, or recontextualise a selected source while establishing a distinctive contemporary position.

PHILOSOPHICAL CONCEPTS AND IDEAS PROGRAMME

Develop a composition from a philosophical question, concept, or argument. Make thought materially operative through sound, time, notation, embodiment, and performance rather than illustrating an external thematic premise.

INFRASTRUCTURAL DESIGN AND COGNITION PROGRAMME

Compose through systems of information, attention, memory, coordination, and decision. Investigate how notation, roles, interfaces, dependencies, and environments organise musical action, collective perception, and agency.

AI APPLICATIONS PROGRAMME

Create a work using artificial-intelligence applications in dialogue with articulated models of human intelligence. Explore computational processes while preserving authorship, performer agency, transparency, accountability, and structural integrity.

FRONTIER SOCIAL MODELS PROGRAMME

Examine cooperation, authority, participation, care, governance, and collective agency as compositional structures. Design musical relations that test how initiative, responsibility, negotiation, consent, and decision-making operate in performance.

ADVANCED NOTATION PARADIGMS PROGRAMME

Develop notation as an active compositional and performative system. Explore graphic, proportional, animated, digital, open-form, rule-based, or hybrid approaches that organise sound, action, interpretation, coordination, and agency.

ADVANCED ARTISTIC PARADIGMS PROGRAMME

Formulate and realise a consequential artistic proposition. Reconfigure relations among material, form, temporality, space, embodiment, technology, authorship, performance, and listening through one coherent new work.

ADVANCED RESEARCH PARADIGMS PROGRAMME

Pursue composition as practice-based artistic research. Develop a precise question, rigorous methodology, and new work through making, analysis, experimentation, rehearsal, documentation, and critical reflection.

INTERDISCIPLINARY ARTISTIC PARADIGMS PROGRAMME

Create a work through exchange between music and another discipline. Engage visual art, choreography, architecture, literature, film, performance, or digital media in ways that transform compositional form, method, and perception.

MUSIC THEATRE PROGRAMME

Compose an integrated theatrical work in which sound, action, language, gesture, space, objects, light, and technology generate form together. Develop dramaturgy and performance through rigorous practical experimentation.

DOCTORAL RESEARCH CASES PROGRAMME

Develop a new composition as a focused doctoral or advanced artistic-research case. Connect research questions, contexts, methods, documentation, rehearsal evidence, and artistic outcomes within a rigorous practice-based inquiry.

CULTURAL PARADIGMS PROGRAMME

Create a work grounded in situated histories, languages, memories, practices, archives, or institutions. Develop culturally responsible methods attentive to context, positionality, attribution, consent, interpretation, and public meaning.

SONIC ARTS, PHENOMENOLOGY, AND ACOUSTICS PROGRAMME

Investigate sound through embodied listening, acoustic behaviour, spatial relations, and perceptual experience. Compose with resonance, projection, density, duration, balance, movement, and the material conditions of audibility.

Each selected composer enters a development process with one designated performing ensemble or soloist. The Academy provides time, expertise, rehearsal conditions, and a professional framework for advancing one artistic proposition towards its compelling public realisation.
