ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The .abeceda [New Music Academy] programme offers composers a framework for developing compositional prototypes, experiments, and new ideas through exchange with performers, conductors, and producers, culminating in world premieres at the seventh Bled Contemporary Music Week.

Each composer turns one prototype, experiment, or idea into a new work for one formation: solo, string quartet, chamber ensemble, symphony orchestra, or choir. Online sessions establish its artistic, notational, and instrumental foundations. During rehearsals, ideas are tested in sound; materials, form, technique, and interpretation are examined, revised, and realised with performers.

Through prototyping, experimentation, score analysis, rehearsal, reflection, and public presentation, the programme strengthens artistic method, practical knowledge, and professional experience. Each composer leaves with a premiered work, high-quality documentation, greater international visibility, and lasting collaborative relationships.
